Barack to the Future

Great speech by Obama last night--I thought he was talking directly to Calfornia and other states coming up with the "we need you" bit. Not at all desparate or whiny or angry, but with the right sense of urgency, like: "Get a hold of yourselves and do the right and courageous thing--now is the time to step up". Brilliant.

I guess in my heart of hearts, I really wanted Obama to smash Clinton's campaign to bits on Feb. 5. It now seems like it will be a slug-fest, and I am trying to stay optimistic about the outcome.

Apparently the next few months will be like riding a roller coaster - full of long hard climbs and dizzying descents. Hold on to your seats, voters. Here we go!

I know what you mean, Barb, but I find myself trying to hold back that feeling because she may be the nominee. I have now met a number of good, thinking Democrats for whom she is the top choice.

And if she gets the nomination, I think she can still win it. Not a foregone conclusion (nothing is), although I think it will be a Bush II style win--narrow victory with bitter divide that will have trouble governing because of it, but better than "Mac" in the White House to set us up for 100 more years in Iraq.

What about Krugman today? A bit of sour grapes, if you ask me.

I agree.
